Prahova valley & the Carpathians

Some of the finest Romanian mountain resorts are located along the river Prahova in a beautiful area with fresh air and often breathtaking landscapes. We will drive along it learning about the long history but also the present day life and realities of the area.

Peles Palace

Away from the busy area of Bucharest, deep in the forests of the Carpathian mountains, lies Peles Castle, the cradle of the Kings of Romania (Hohenzollern dynasty). Built in the late 19th century, this was the place from where Romania’s role in World War I was decided. Known as the Jewelry box of Romania, the royal residence never ceases to surprise its visitors with its beauty and unique combination of decorative elements.

The city of Brasov

The city of Brasov, one of the oldest in Transylvania is a typical fortified German city because of its Saxons community that settled here in the early 13th century. We will tour the Old Town Square area where the impressive Black Church lies, the largest Gothic construction East of Vienna. We will also enjoy some free time in the city and will be able to explore it at our own pace.

Overnight in a typical Bed & Breakfast

For the night, we will experience a typical Transylvanian household where      we will dine as well having a nice fresh and organic meal

Day 2

Bran Castle

We will start the day touring the Bran castle. Still under the spell of Peles Castle, we set out to cross the mountains to Bran Castle the mysterious medieval stronghold. Bran Castle was originally built by the Knights of the Teutonic Order in the 13th century as a strategic defensive outpost. Centuries later, Bram Stoker placed the stronghold into a different world, a world of vampires and of Count Dracula.

Follow us on this trail, from the city to the mountains, from royalty to vampires, from history to legend. Delight yourselves with a traditional Romanian meal and get to know the genuine folk customs of our country!

Sibiu, the former European Capital of Culture

In 2007, Sibiu was the European Capital of Culture and for this ongoing yearly event some major refurbishment works were carried out so the city looks nowadays among the nicest in the country. Sibiu is another centuries old burg with its Medieval look worth visiting and exploring on your own not to forget to mention the nice restaurants and terraces all over the historical centre where one can relax.

Drive back to Bucharest through the Olt Valley

We will drive along the Olt valley, a beautiful place abounding in magnificent landscapes, we will have dinner on the way and arrive late in Bucharest.
