
On the first day we start early in the morning with a very nice drive through the Romanian country side, from Bucharest to Ruse. Once we cross the border to Bulgaria we enter the city of Ruse, a small city on the right bank of the Danube River. We leave Ruse behind and drive towards Ivanovo where we will visit the spectacular rock-hewn churches, a medieval monastic complex that has endured over 6 centuries of history and is even today a beautiful site. After the visit to Ivanovo we turn back to Ruse to enjoy a delicious meal by the Danube River. In the afternoon will visit the historical capital of the second Bulgarian Empire, the beautiful city of Veliko Tarnovo and after that have a traditional Bulgarian dinner in the small town of Arbanassi.
On the second day we drive to the city of Kazanlak, a very important economical center of Bulgaria and also home to one of its most interesting sites, the ancient Thracian tomb Kazanlak that dates back to the 4th century BC. After a very educational and fun visit of the town of Kazanlak and a tasty meal, in the afternoon we head of to discover yet another very fascinating ancient site, the city of Nicopolis ad Istrum, founded by the roman emperor Traian in order to celebrate his victory over the Dacians that lived north of the Danube. After a busy day we retreat back to Veliko Tarnovo to enjoy a bit of free time and have dinner in one of the restaurants of Veliko Tarnovo.
On the third day we leave behind the city of Veliko Tarnovo and head towards the shores of the Black Sea to the city of Varna. On the way there we値l enjoy the interesting Bulgarian countryside, and we値l stop for lunch in the city of Shumen. Right after lunch we will visit to major attractions in the area, one is the Monument to 1300 years of Bulgaria regarded as the only monument in the world that depicts the hole history of a country, and second the Rider of Madara a early medieval large rock relief carved on the Madara Plateau. We値l continue our journey towards Varna and once we get there we`ll visit the spectacular site of the petrified forest near Varna.
On the fourth day we値l start exploring the very rich history of the city of Varna. We値l discover both the fascinating history of the City of Varna and its abundant historical sites and also the lively present day Varna, one of the biggest summer attractions on the shore of the Black Sea. The city has a lot to offer from beautiful architecture and natural landscapes to captivating museums and imposing monuments, but also lots of fun.
The fifth day we hit the road again, we travel north to the Romanian city of Constanta but on the way we値l stop at a few interesting sites. The first stop is at Balchik a small town that boasts a very rich history. After we visit the most important sites in Balchik we head on to the town of Kaliakra, which is most famous for its nature reserve, but also for the interesting history and legends of the palce. In the afternoon we reach Constanta and before dinner we enjoy a relaxing stroll by the seaside observing the charm of the oldest living city in Romania.
On the last day we head of to Murfatlar where we are expected for an exciting tour of the Murfatlar Winery and Vineyards, including a visit at the Wine and Vine Museum, followed by a visit at the Tasting Halls. Afther having tasted some of the best wines in Romania and delighted ourselves with a very tasty traditional Romanian meal we head of to Bucharest where a quiet and relaxing afternoon awaits us.
